The Brothers Grimm Specatculathon
Opening the 39th Season with its Dessert Theatre production, THE BROTHERS GRIMM SPECTACULATHON. Written by Don Zolidis, the fairy tales of The Brothers Grimm are turned on their heads in this fast-paced, rollicking ride. Two narrators and several actors attempt to combine all 209 Grimm fairy tales, ranging from classics like “Snow White,” “Cinderella” and “Hansel and Gretel” to more obscure tales such as “The Devil’s Grandmother” and “The Girl without Hands.” THE BROTHERS GRIMM SPECTACULATHON is a wild, free-form comedy with lots of audience participation and madcap fun.
Director Tim Kirk of Delran comments, “I love hearing old classic stories retold from a different perspective. So it’s only natural that Grimm’s Fairy Tales, with their ‘grim’ endings, holds a special appeal for me. The show is a combination of The Complete Works of William Shakespeare (Abridged), Shrek, and Monty Python and the Holy Grail, with a healthy dose of Jay Ward’s ‘Fractured Fairy Tales’ (from the cartoon Rocky & Bullwinkle). Our audiences should sit back and get ready to laugh!”
THE BROTHERS GRIMM SPECTACULATHON features a talented cast, collectively known as “The Not Ready for Bedtime Players.” The Players take on a variety of roles throughout the show, and include Stephanie Carr of Barrington, Fred Ezell of Mount Holly, Jeanne Haynes of Florence, Tony Miele of Bordentown, Jessi Meisel of Sewell, Francis Pedersen and Paul Sollimo of Marlton, Shelby Tibbets of Delanco, and Alice Weber and John Weber of Fairless Hills, PA.
